Mentoring Through Actions
Mission:
To improve students' academic performance, transition negative
behaviors into positive thoughts, responses, actions, and improve
overall self-esteem through individual assistance, insightful life
teachings, and physical fitness, while bridging the gap between
students, parents, schools, and communities.
The Mentoring Through Actions (MTA) Program is designed to
assist students with their academics and personal growth. Through
homework assistance, daily encouragement and a structured physical
fitness routine, students learn the importance of listening skills,
teamwork, responsibility, commitment, and perseverance. Students
receive homework assistance from high school and college mentors.
Additionally, Students are asked to complete weekly progress
reports and participate in life skills/enrichment activities. MTA’s
foundation is built on research-based strategies
including risk and resiliency, classroom management, conflict
resolution, strength based programming and Response To
Intervention.
